Pj Perez

Pj PerezFor a guy who loves sleep as much as he claims to, Pj Perez sure is good at finding new ways to fill in his waking hours. In the last 15-plus years, this Generation X refugee has been a performing and recording musician, record label owner, publisher, publicist, music producer, graphic designer, web maven, poet, playwright, editor, actor and most prominently, contributing writer to a number of publications, including Rolling Stone, ART + Living, Las Vegas CityLife, Six Degrees, 944, Las Vegas Weekly and more. And now the insatiable creative drive of the Las Vegas mainstay has Perez adding one more feather to his hat: comic book creator.

In addition to years of writing experience, Perez has an extensive background in graphic design, both for the print and web, having helmed his own multimedia design firm, The Studio, in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He worked on contract for multiple projects for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (from where he also snared a dual bachelor’s degree in journalism and sociology), incorporating both traditional graphic design approaches and methods stolen straight from the comic book and animation playbooks. His editorial cartoons have appeared in UNLV’s Rebel Yell newspaper (after a nine-month stint there as editor-in-chief), and his digital artwork has been featured on multiple websites, including the earlier versions of Pop! Goes the Icon.

Though his primary focus is on writing, Perez is also illustrating The Utopian webcomic for PGTI as well as other projects to be announced. His regular ramblings and rants can be found at his blog, Bleeding Neon, or every five seconds on Twitter. And if the safety of your hearing is of no consequence, he also keeps the beat for alternative rock band As Yet Unbroken.
