Where I’ll Be: Wizard World Las Vegas

… kind of. For a variety of reasons, neither I nor Pop! Goes the Icon has a table or booth at the first-ever Las Vegas edition of Wizard World Comic Con, but I was invited by the lovely and talented Genese Davis to speak on a couple of panels at the convention, which takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center April 24-26. And you know there’s nothing I do better than sit in front of a microphone and talk about subjects with false authority.

Here are the panel titles, times and descriptions, in case you happen to be attending the con (and if you like geeky things and live in Las Vegas, why wouldn’t you be?):

Friday, April 24

5:30 – 6:15PM THE FEMALE SUPERHERO: WHAT IS THE FEMALE PROTAGONISTS’ SECRET WEAPON? (ROOM S231)
With the rise of female protagonists transforming the Hollywood hero and leading literary figures, the perspectives for women leaders is rapidly evolving. Hear Genese Davis (The Holder’s Dominion, MMORPG.com) Audrey Kearns (Geek Girl Authority, Five Truths and a Lie) Pam van Hylckama Vlieg (D4EO Literary Agency) PJ Perez (Pop Goes the Icon) and Chelle Dey(Shenanigans) discuss the secret to their favorite female characters and how creators are knocking down cultural barriers, societal sexism, as well as influencing pop culture and the entertainment industry at large.

Sunday, April 26

12:30 – 1:15PM CALLING ALL ASPIRING WRITERS! THE NEW WRITER’S SURVIVAL GUIDE (ROOM S229)
Join this high-powered panel divulging the in’s and out’s of writing, the impact writing can have on people’s lives and just what to expect when writing full-time. Join Genese Davis (The Holder’s Dominion, MMORPG.com) Maxwell Alexander Drake (The Genesis of Oblivion Saga, Everquest Next) PJ Perez (Pop Goes the Icon) and Richard Becker (Copywrite, Ink.) discuss the benefits and potential drawbacks to a literary career and how to navigate both.

That’s it! I’ll probably also be hanging around the convention just to schmooze on Sunday, in case anyone wants to meet up. I’m pretty tied up the rest of the weekend, as I have back-to-back events for two of my clients, including the big, two-year anniversary party for Downtown Spaces on Saturday night, which you’re all going to attend, right?
