Vegas Seven: Atomic Comics

vegas seven 2012 06 21What does it take to get me to sit down, read, and finish a book? Apparently, writing a review of it. My latest contribution to Vegas Seven is an article about the late FerencĀ  Morton Szasz’s last book, Atomic Comics: Cartoonists Confront the Nuclear World. I spoke with Szasz’s widow, Margaret Connell-Szasz, a fellow University of New Mexico history professor who, along with the couple’s children, helped see Atomic Comics through to print. You should go read the article.

I’m in the midst of wrapping up an illustration gig about which I can’t go into detail right now (but surely I will eventually), and just finished the first phase of a travel writing-related project as well, so that should help explain some of the radio silence around here (per usual, more to come).

Aside from regular updates on The Utopian: Foundation, you might continue to not see much from me in the next month or two as I try to catch up on some long-term writing and sequential work, including an unfinished screenplay, a new comic book series pitch, and some general housecleaning I really need to tackle before I pick up any new endeavors (including, you know, filing my 2011 taxes). But I’m sure I’ll be futzing around on Facebook and Twitter in the meantime, if you’re so inclined to join me.
