Vegas comic book scene gets profiled

There’s a nifty feature in today’s Las Vegas Review-Journal “Neon” section about the Vegas comic book community’s growth and development, written by John Przybys (could he be a cousin of Mr. Mxyzptlk?). It even includes a not-too-shabby picture of me in my home studio space. Almost like I work there!

It’s kind of a good time to be in Vegas right now, aside from the fact that most of us live in houses worth half of what we paid for them, assuming we haven’t been foreclosed upon and are living in our parents’ garages. It seems like every day, there’s a new business opening, or another article about downtown redevelopment, or just people plain ol’ doing stuff. That fake boom period of the early-to-mid 2000s with all the speculative developers and investors from California or wherever has passed, and now we’re back to the people who live here focusing intently on organically building the physical and cultural infrastructure of Las Vegas from the ground up.

It’s nice to be recognized as one of the people somewhere in the midst, but even nicer to be able to have any sort of recognizable impact. That’s the magic of Vegas: It takes far fewer people to show a significant effect.
